Vikings Take Northeast Elite!

On a May 5th evening that turned out to be warmer than anticipated, the Vikings scored 7 runs on 10 hits to defeat the MacArthur Generals in front of a large crowd of onlookers at Clarkstown South field.  Corey Baker allowed 2 hits and one earned run and had 6 strikeouts in a complete game performance.  Baker had 2 hits, Alec Cartagena and Kevin Grogan had 2 hits, and JJ Giordano, Chris Griggs, Dylan Kress and Frankie Salerno each had 1 hit.  They play George Washington in the Finals today at 1:15 on the South Field.

On May 4th, Clarkstown defeated the Tottenville Pirates 4-2 to take the first game of he tournament and qualify for the semifinals.  Sean Darsee pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts to take the win.  Andrew Distelhurst finished the game by striking out the last batter.  Darsee, Joseph Depool and JJ GIordano each had an RBI .  Corey Baker was 2 for 4, Alec Cartagena was 2 for 3, Darsee 1 for 2 with a walk and a sac fly, Giordano was 1 for 4 and Kol Kalaba also had a hit in the game.  This was only the 19th loss suffered by the highly-ranked Tottenville team in four years.

Vikings Over North Rockland 2-1

Behind the excellent pitching of J.J Giordano and Andrew Distlehurst, coupled with some timely hitting and base stealing, The Clarkstown Vikings looked like themselves yesterday in a 2-1 victory over the North Rockland Red Raiders, who has just come off a timely win against Suffern.  Clarkstown had 5 hits (Darsee 2, Giordano 1, Grogan 1 and Kalaba 1) and defense with stellar with only one error that can be chalked up to the intensity of the game.  Giordano was superb through 5+ innings and Distelhurst mastered a tremendous save despite being hurt right before he took the mound.
